World Elephant Day

World Elephant Day is August 12th! Come to the Zoo and be sure the wear grey - the color of elephants - and stop by the elephant exhibit to meet our elephant keepers and learn about what Oakland Zoo does to help save elephants in the wild. Take a picture at the elephant exhibit and use the hashtags #gogrey and #elphie to support the 96 Elephants campaign!

Get a hand-made (by our elephant keepers) “96Elephants” awareness ribbon at the elephant exhibit!

96 is the number of African Elephants that are currently being killed every day for their tusks. Oakland Zoo is proud to be a partner of the Wildlife Conservation Society through their campaign called ‘96 Elephants’. 96 Elephants brings together world citizens, partners, thought leaders, and change makers to leverage collective influence to stop the killing of elephants for their ivory.
