Girl Scout Overnights
Badge Workshops
Come bring your troop to spend the night at the Oakland Zoo. These large group overnights are designed to accommodate up to 100 scouts and their chaperones.
An Oakland Zoo education specialist will lead your group on an evening night hike around the zoo where you'll get a look at what the zoo is like after all of the guests leave. Afterwards, enjoy snacks and participate in fun activities before heading to bed in the auditorium of our Education Center.
In the morning your group will enjoy a tasty continental breakfast in the Maddie's Center for Science and Environmental Education and pack up all of your things. After breakfast you'll get the chance to meet one of our education animals, and then get ready to take a morning tour to see some of the animals before the guests arrive. By the end of the morning you will have completed all of the requirements to earn your Once the program ends you may head back home or feel free to take the rest of your morning to visit the zoo with your group.
Groups arrive at the zoo at 7:00pm and the program ends the next morning at 9:45am. These overnights are offered in the spring and fall by reservation. Rain or shine, this night is sure to be a memorable experience that everyone will enjoy!
Brownie Animal Try-It Overnight
Get a special look at what goes on at the zoo after the rest of the guests leave. Enjoy a nocturnal tour of the new Valley Children's Zoo, a yummy late-night snack, games, a continental breakfast, and an early morning rainforest tour. Plus- go behind the scenes to learn how we care for animals here at the zoo and then make toys and treats for them. Or make a toy to take home for your special pet. You'll complete all of the requirements necessary to earn the Animals Try-It while making memories to last a lifetime!
Fee: $55 per adult - $55 per child. All adults and children must register.

Brownie Eco-Explorer Try-It Overnight
What do all the animals in the zoo do after the people go home? Find out in this overnight adventure. Explore animal habitats with a nocturnal zoo tour and habitat craft activity. Meet an education animal up close. Enjoy a late night snack and snuggle down in the comfort of our Education Center. After waking to the sounds of the animals, explore some more with a scavenger hunt in the zoo's butterfly garden and an early morning zoo tour. Become an ecological explorer and earn a Try-It in this fun and exciting overnight adventure.
Fee: $55 per adult - $55 per child. All adults and children must register.

Junior Girl Scout Wildlife Badge Overnight
Come to the zoo and become a true wildlife biologist. Learn about researching in the field, and do a bit of research yourself! Meet one of our education animal ambassadors up close and learn about the tools it has to be successful in the wild. Explore the Zoo at night, enjoy a late night snack, play a game, and snuggle down in the comfort of our Education Center. Wake up to singing siamangs and a continental breakfast before heading out into the zoo for a private tour to continue our field research. You'll complete all of the requirements necessary to earn your Wildlife Badge while having the time of your life on this exciting overnight.
Fee: $55 per adult - $55 per child. All adults and children must register.

Junior Girl Scout Plants and Animals Badge Overnight
Plants and animals depend on each other; and we depend on them. Visit our zoo animals when they're at their most natural state- when the zoo is closed to the public. Learn about captive animal care and training, express your creativity making a project to take home and treasure, enjoy a tasty late-night snack, and meet an animal face-to-face. Get a good night's sleep because in the morning the exploration continues with an early morning zoo tour and activities.
Fee: $55 per adult - $55 per child. All adults and children must register.

Older Girl Scout Overnight Adventure (for girl scouts in grades 6-12)
What does it take to keep animals healthy in the zoo? What exactly does a veterinarian do? What kinds of jobs exist that work with animals? Find the answers to all these questions and more at an overnight designed especially for older girl scouts. See what the zoo is like at night after all the guests have gone home. Go behind-the-scenes to see firsthand how our animals are cared for. Make enrichment for our zoo animals and watch them play with what you've made.
Fee: $55 per adult - $55 per child. All adults and children must register.
Available dates:
- Saturday, December 06 from 07:00 PM-09:45 AM
One adult chaperone is required for every ten girls.
There is a fee for both children and adults. All participants must register.
