Oakland, CA – September 20, 2022… Oakland Zoo is excited to host its 13th year as the event location for the “Healthy Living Festival,” presented by the United Seniors of Oakland and Alameda County, on Thursday, September 29, from 9 am to 2 pm. This year’s event will take place live and in person, in accordance with guidance from the Public Health Officers related to COVID-19. Free lunch will be given to all pre-registered participants. The last day to register for the event is Friday, September 23.
“We are honored to be once again asked to host this year’s event, and we’re grateful to do our part to help ensure the health of our senior community. We are here to support all ages, both as a resource and as a long-standing destination dedicated to animals, nature, and education,” says Nik Dehejia, CEO of Oakland Zoo.
The Healthy Living Festival is a free event for seniors 55+ living in Alameda County to promote health and wellness. In previous years, this annual event drew an average of more than 2,000 participants.
“For many, getting vaccinated, tested, and staying social in a safe way has been a challenge. Oakland Zoo continues to be our gracious and flexible partner, and I am excited that this year’s Healthy Living Festival is a safely organized drive-through, offering all three necessities to those who need them the most”, says Nate Miley, Alameda County Supervisor for District 4 and Vice President of the Board of Supervisors.
Oakland Zoo has been a staple for 100 years in the Oakland community. As the Zoo recently celebrated its Centennial year, it will continue and expand its involvement within the community they call home.
