Engaging, interesting, and insightful, our tours are a great way to see Oakland Zoo in action. Take advantage of our docents' in-depth knowledge of Oakland Zoo and schedule a tour of the lower Zoo. Interested in seeing our veterinary hospital? Schedule a tour of our state-of-the-art facility and learn how we care for our wide-range of animals.
Explore the Zoo with an expert as your guide. One of our docents will take your group through the Zoo, teach you about the animals, share fun facts, and answer any questions you may have. Of note, California Trail is not currently included in the tour.

Walking Tour: The minimum age for children is five—the tour may be too lengthy and in-depth for younger children.
Cart Tour: No minimum age is required— the tour is also ideal for those with disabilities or physical challenges that make walking difficult.
Schedule Early—Tours are very popular; book at least 2-3 weeks prior to the date you would like to reserve. Bookings made less than two weeks in advance cannot be accommodated.

Tour our world-class veterinary hospital—a facility designed to accommodate all current and future animals at Oakland Zoo—from small birds and reptiles to large tigers and grizzly bears. This state-of-the-art facility features radiology and surgical suites, a small laboratory, a pharmacy, wide transportation docks, and LEED Gold certification.
